In Bloom-Berg

Michael Bloomberg has been performing better in recent polls and hasn’t even been on the ballot for the last two caucuses/primaries. He also qualified to be in the next debate in Nevada on Wednesday.

I am bothered by the fact that it seems like Bloomberg is trying to buy his way to the Democratic Party’s nomination. I see numerous ads of his on multiple networks and sometimes it seems like every other commercial belongs to him. I haven’t seen any TV ads from any of the other candidates that are running for the Democratic nomination (social media is a totally different story). Tom Steyer (who I’m not even sure if he is still running) is another that falls into this category.

I know that he is using his own money to fund his way into the nomination and possibly the White House, but it still feels slimy. I understand that there are many that run for president that are millionaires, multi-millionaires, and billionaires and I can appreciate politicians that don’t take PAC or Super PAC money (I’m pretty sure it’s a small percentage), but can’t we still have a free and fair election? Bernie and Trump both have money but have been able to appeal to their bases organically through grassroots campaigning.

Another slimy practice that seems unfair and would irritate the crap out of me if I was a candidate is that Bloomberg is putting his eggs in one basket on Super Tuesday to try to obtain the nomination. Yes, I know he is campaigning, but it seems like he doesn’t have to make the effort like all the other candidates have done for the last year or so. Again, free and fair? It doesn’t seem so to me.

I’m curious to see how Bloomberg does in the debate tonight. I wonder if his responses to the many questions about policy as well as his past practices and questionable comments as NYC Mayor (i.e stop-and-frisk) will hold any water.
